Approach

KHS&S utilizes a proven design-through-construction approach. We can enter a project early to align goals, design intent and budget. Detailed drawings seamlessly direct field implementation, while best building practices drive quality, efficiency and safety.  When appropriate, BIM eliminates guess work and encourages cooperation with other trades.  Lean construction processes reduce waste, align project goals and streamline movement, while technology sparks innovative ways to improve quality, reduce the budget or speed production.  Proven quality assurance / quality control procedures ensure the job is done correctly and with the highest levels of quality.

Spotlight

CREATING CURVE APPEAL FOR A RETAIL MECCA

Bucking the trend of retail moving outdoors, Sarasota, Florida recently constructed its first indoor shopping mall to open in the past 35 years.  When it did, KHS&S was selected to give the two-story, 880,000-square-foot center its signature curved concourse.

The curvy corridor required installation of large pieces of curved soffits.  Originally planned to be installed on lifts, the process was too cumbersome and dangerous given the number of trades working on-site.  KHS&S instead developed a way to attach the pieces to the back of the framing, saving time and increasing job site safety.

KHS&S also framed and finished multiple project skylights, many rising more than 60 feet off the floor. Workers tied off while working on dance floor scaffolds to reach the massive architectural features. Despite the heights, quality expectations did not change. The features were precisely framed, just as if they were being viewed at eye level.
