An Expanding Airport for Soaring Growth
Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) Ground Boarding Facility
One of the fastest-growing airports in the nation, Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), is experiencing a remarkable year-over-year surge in passenger traffic. This growth is evident as more airlines and flights are accommodated within the airport’s single concourse, featuring 13 gates.
KHS&S is working on key elements of the airport’s $72 million design-build project to introduce a ground-based boarding facility. Services include exterior and interior framing, EIFS, building a trailer deck for GC, expanding the baggage handling area, installing prefab security booth units, a valet kiosk and close to 250,000 sq. ft. of drywall already installed with additional scope anticipated as the project moves towards completion.
This new ground-based boarding facility is designed to cater to over 2.5 million passengers annually through the addition of five new gates. When combined with the existing 13 gates, SRQ’s overall capacity is expected to accommodate approximately 5 million travelers each year
