KHS&S-East Coast Hits Record-Low OSHA Incident Rate

KHS&S-East Coast achieved an OSHA Total Injury and Illness Rate (TIIR) of 3.3 for 2016, breaking its own record for overall job site safety. The same safety measurement and previous record low was 4.7 in 2015.

The TIIR is a nationally recognized measurement of company safety. The rate is calculated using a standardized formula that measures injuries and illnesses as a percentage per 100 employees. The metric is a benchmark to compare performance with other companies in similar business groups and is also used internally to measure safety performance from year to year.

“Avoiding the personal toil an injury or illness takes on a worker and his or her family has always been a priority,” said Michael Cannon, CEO/president, KHS&S-East Coast. “We have the right policies, procedures and people in place to deliver a first-class safety program, and we have achieved remarkable results. I want to thank everyone in our company for putting safety first.”
