Orange County Convention Center Expansion

Overview

The $490-million Orange County Convention Center Phase V Expansion is the largest public construction project in Orange County history.  Adding 950,282 gross square feet of exhibition space and 166,050 square feet of meeting rooms, the expansion makes the Orange County Convention Center the second-largest convention center in the country, behind Chicago’s McCormick Place.

The KHS&S Contractors / Mader Southeast, Inc. Joint Venture was responsible for completing the massive project’s interiors, included the following

  • Metal stud framing
  • 2.9 million square feet of drywall installation
  • 350,000 square feet of sprayed thermal installation
  • Acoustical ceiling tiles in all meeting rooms, function rooms, administrative areas, kitchen and back of house
  • Four separate scalloped metal ceilings located under the project’s signature hyperbolic arches
  • 72 GFRG ribbed ornamental columns
