Orlando Health Freestanding Emergency Room & Medical Pavilion

Lake Mary, FL

Lean Construction and Expert Planning Help Deliver an Accelerated Schedule

The $42 million project encompassing a new Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion is an extension of Orlando Health’s South Seminole Hospital. Covering 30 acres, the four-story 60,000 square foot Medical Pavilion and 40,000 square foot free standing Emergency Room serves the Lake Mary community. Free standing emergency rooms are an emerging trend allowing hospitals to construct facilities to serve communities in areas without close access to a hospital emergency room.

Originally contracted as a 14-month project, KHS&S was challenged to deliver in 8 months due to required site work that delayed construction start. By maximizing manpower and using Lean practices, the project was successfully completed in the 8-month timeline.
