KHS&S Wins Two Walter F. Pruter Awards From The WWCCA
ANAHEIM, Calif., January 17, 2013 – KHS&S has received two coveted Walter F. Pruter Awards and an honorable mention from the Western Wall & Ceiling Contractors Association (WWCCA.) The long-standing awards program recognizes excellence in workmanship for the wall and ceiling industry.
KHS&S earned Walter F. Pruter Awards for the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Phase IV project, Santa Barbara, Calif. and for the Buena Vista Street improvements project at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, Calif.
Cottage Hospital Phase IV is a new $300-million, 370,000-square foot bed patient tower and surgery center. The team of Capparelli / KHS&S completed more than 19,000 square yards of plaster and 73,000 linear feet of trim throughout the 337-bed healthcare facility.
Disneyland’s Buena Vista Street improvements pay homage to the Los Angeles Walt Disney encountered upon his 1923 arrival to the region. The project includes multiple improvements to retail shops, turnstiles and a monorail bridge. It also features a large-scale replica of the Carthay Circle Theatre – one of the most famous movie palaces of Hollywood’s Golden Age. The KHS&S Global Procurement Group selected multiple international fabricators to complete the extensive GFRC, cast and cast iron architectural elements required by the project’s design. In total, more than 1,000 pieces were fabricated under the careful eye of KHS&S team members. Walt Disney Imagineering approved all first-article pieces prior to shipment.
The John Wayne Airport, Terminal C Expansion project received an honorable mention. The project included six new-bridged aircraft gates, two new commuter terminals, security checkpoints, sixteen (16) new restaurants and nine (9) new stores. The team of Capparelli / KHS&S completed more than 10,400 square yards of plaster and 26,000 linear feet of trim throughout the terminal.
Awards were presented to KHS&S at the WWCCA meeting on January 15, 2013 in Anaheim, California.
