KHS&S On the Largest Construction Project in the Western Hemisphere

KHS&S is partnering with Bahamian contracting company I.Land Plaster to complete the exterior envelope for five hotel towers and nine areas on the project podium and convention center for the $3.5-billion Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas.  At present, it is the largest project under development in the Western Hemisphere.

At build-out, the 1,100-acre site is expected to top 3.3 million square feet. KHS&S is currently completing two million square feet of product.

Opening December 2014, the resort features four hotels including a luxury Grand Hyatt, a Rosewood, a Mondrian and the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel. The hotels surround a 100,000-square-foot casino, which takes elements of both the Las Vegas Strip and Monte Carlo. The resort will also include more than 40 retail stores, more than 30 restaurants, bars, nightclubs and an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.

KHS&S / I.LAND LTD's complete scope of work includes preconstruction services, design-assist, shop drawings, supervision, material supply and fabrication, on-site training and project management.

The project's general contractor is China Construction America (CCA) Bahamas, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC.)

In addition to the exterior envelope, KHS&S is working with Eggrock Modular Solutions/Oldcastle Precast to fabricate and supply 2,132 prefabricted bathroom pods for the Mondrian, Grand Hyatt and Baha Mar Casino & Hotel. The project's prefabricated bathroom pods were produced in Eggrock Modular Solutions' Orlando, Florida plant and shipped to Nassau via ocean freight. KHS&S is also coordinating bathroom installation with CCA Bahamas.
