KHS&S Marks ESOP Anniversary with Community Service Challenge
ANAHEIM, California, June 21, 2010 − Commemorating their fourth year as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, the employees of KHS&S Contractors-West Coast decided their celebration should make a difference.
By challenging themselves to volunteer four hours each by July 31 to a charity of their choice, the 154 ESOP members in this leading design-assist specialty building company are turning an annual celebration into a giving opportunity. The company anticipates full participation from its eight West Coast offices throughout five states, which will mean more than 600 hours donated to multiple charities.
Since 2006, KHS&S employees have volunteered more than 2,500 hours and raised money for dozens of causes in their communities, including food drives, social programs, disease research, treatment and prevention programs and aid for military troops.
“When our ESOP was formed four years ago, community service was central to our mission,” said Kelly Sell, KHS&S-West Coast Vice President of Human Resources. “The employees feel it is important to share the good fortunes they derive from investing in their company with the communities the company serves.”
KHS&S-West Coast has offices in Anaheim, San Francisco Bay, San Diego, Seattle, Las Vegas, Reno, Phoenix and Denver. Their contributions to these communities include collecting a record-breaking 15,352 pounds of food for the Orange County (Calif.) Food Bank; supporting needy families through Seattle’s St. Francis House; donating to Las Vegas’ Shade Tree, a women’s shelter; serving San Diego’s St. Vincent DePaul soup kitchen; and repairing Reno’s Ronald McDonald House.
Other recipients of the company’s charity work are the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Salvation Army and various cancer foundations.
As an incentive to reach 100 percent participation, employees presenting a verification of service will be entered into a drawing for two round-trip airline tickets for travel in the U.S.
KHS&S, one of the world’s leading specialty design-assist building companies, has developed a full range of services and companies that focus on the whole project. KHS&S offers innovative building solutions to general contractors, owners and architects − from creating technology that facilitates virtual project delivery to combining art and construction to build spectacular structures, finishes and themed environments. The company operates in more than 20 cities throughout North America, Asia and the Middle East.
