Graton Casino & Resort Wins Two WACA CEA AWards

The Graton Casino & Resort was awarded two construction excellence awards from the Wall & Ceiling Alliance for Ceilings and EIFS.

The $800-million resort and casino, tailored to Northern California’s wine country, opened in early November with 3,000 slot machines, 144 gaming tables and 13 restaurants.

KHS&S completed the interiors and exteriors of the main casino building, the interiors and exteriors of the water treatment facility and the exteriors of the central plant. Most of the interior scope included high-end faux finishes and wallcoverings.

Several of our faux finishes were the look of wood and had to be applied over exterior EIFS, this created several challenges for both our plasterers, which were required to provide a completely smooth surface for the paint application, as well as for our faux finishers which were for the most part trained from scratch on these faux applications as there were no union faux painters in the area before KHS&S’ arrival. By the end of the job we had trained over 30 painters in over 20 different faux finishes.
