Broadmoor West Renovation Wins Two AWCI Colorado Awards

The Broadmoor West Renovation project in Colorado Springs, Colorado has won two Excellence in Construction Quality Awards from the Association of the Wall & Ceiling Industry, Colorado (AWCI) recognizing excellence in workmanship for the wall and ceiling industry.

The Broadmoor West recieved awards for Exterior Finishes and Commerical Project, More than $1,000,000.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The renovation and expansion of Broadmoor West, which opened in 1976, was inspired by one of Europe’s finest hotels: the Hotel Sacher in Vienna, Austria.

The 6-month construction project, added three floors and 31 rooms, extended the building on the east and west ends and dramatically changed the building’s appearance so it would blend better with the other structures on the 3,000-acre resort.

The renovation also enlarged all the Broadmoor West guest rooms and replaced its restaurants with a new Italian eatery, Ristorante del Lago, and a second restaurant, Natural Epicurean.

This was KHS&S’ first project in Colorado Springs and required an entirely new team. And even with the worst winter conditions the area had seen in 15 years, in typical KHS&S fashion the project was completed on time.

KHS&S Contractors completed the following scopes of work on the Broadmoor project:

Interior framing/sheathing
Exterior framing/sheathing
Insulation

Plaster
GFRC
Fypon
Various finishes
