Download video of Merchant's Harbor at Desert Passage and experience the thunderstorm that's creating a rumble for Las Vegas shoppers.
Amidst the dramatic backdrop of 75,000 square feet of KHS&S-created artificial rock and more than 1.5 miles of KHS&S themed facades, Merchant's Harbor at Desert Passage adds yet another level of realism to Las Vegas' most creative shopping adventure.
Designed to replicate the sights and sounds of a thunderstorm overtaking a North African harbor, this indoor rock and water feature begins with rumbling thunder heard above the harbor's seagulls and foghorns and builds into a full rain shower with varying intensities of wind, rain, thunder and lightning. Working with the mechanical infrastructure KHS&S teams built into Merchant's Harbor and audio and visual effects by Thomas Gregor Associates, two challenges were met. First, elaborate system equipment was skillfully placed out of public view and secondly, all features were synchronized on a show control system to achieve a "symphonic" effect.
KHS&S teams created a spectacular rock and water feature rivaled only by a 155-foot, turn-of-the-century steamer KHS&S craftsmen "moored" at dockside, making the harbor re-creation complete.
