Gaylord Palms Resort & Spa Kissimmee, Florida

Description

One of the largest resort structures in Florida, Gaylord Palms Resort & Spa is a Florida-themed destination resort located on 63 acres in Central Florida.  It was Gaylord Entertainment's first hotel construction project since developing Nashville's Opryland Resort in 1977.

Gaylord Palms represents more than 230,000 square feet of exteriors, packaged in a nine-story design that incorporates multiple cornice bands, 2,800 feet of balustrades, entablatures and rustication lines. KHS&S completed all exteriors, including metal stud framing, EIFS and stucco.

KHS&S also completed more than 48,000 square feet of themed interiors and the facades for more than 1,406 guest rooms.

Themed construction was centered around five distinct sections, all representing iconic geographies or attributes of old Florida.  KHS&S work included wood decking, EIFS, carved stucco, architectural ornamentation, faux painting, GFRG columns and wood shingles.  KHS&S also designed and constructed a 65 x 26-foot, two-masted ketch, which serves as a liquor and oyster bar as well as a resort centerpiece.
