07.10 KHS&S Selected to Help Build San Diego New Central Library
KHS&S has been awarded a contract to complete the decorative cement board, cold formed framing, drywall, spray applied fireproofing, plaster, insulation and toilet accessories for San Diego’s new central library. The nearly 500,000-square-foot library will break ground July 28 with completion anticipated in 2013. The construction manager is Turner Construction. KHS&S will begin work in the first quarter of 2011.

05.10 KHS&S Opens First Office in Canada: Lands Edmonton International Airport Expansion Project
KHS&S continues to implement a targeted growth strategy with the opening of its first Canadian office in Alberta. The new office coincides with the award of a contract with PCL for the interiors and exteriors of the Edmonton International Airport Terminal Building Expansion. The $1.1 billion fast-tracked project will add more than 446,000 square feet to the airports south terminal as well as renovate existing facilities. The phased construction project will continue throughout 2012. KHS&S now operates from 15 offices throughout North America and six international offices throughout Asia and the Middle East.
04.10 KHS&S Welcomes Kenneth Bock, Vice President, Business Development
KHS&S is pleased to announce Kenneth R. Bock has joined the company as vice president. Bock is responsible for generating new business for KHS&S Contractors and its other related companies. A 35-year veteran of the construction industry, Ken is experienced in nearly every facet of construction including design development, estimating, preconstruction, constructability review, field staffing and business development. His broad knowledge also spans multiple industry sectors including gaming, Indian gaming, hospitality, healthcare and education. 03.10 Skanska Honors KHS&S as Supplier of Choice for 2009
Skanska USA Building Inc. has named KHS&S Contractors a Supplier of Choice for 2009. KHS&S is one of only five U.S. subcontracting companies recognized for outstanding performance related to safety, quality, meeting the schedule, green building, third-tier management, diversity, internal training and innovation. Robert Luker, Senior Vice President, KHS&S-Tampa, accepted the award March 3 in Phoenix, AZ where a reception/dinner was held for recipient companies.

KHS&S today announced changes to the structure of its international subsidiary, KHS&S International. The changes, designed to provide management greater autonomy and responsiveness to a growing number of geographic markets, create two distinct international operating units that will each focus on securing and completing large-scale interior/exterior construction projects in assigned geographic regions.

KHS&S has opened a new office in Brentwood, TN, a suburb of Nashville. The expansion puts KHS&S closer to the area's more than 300 healthcare companies, including the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) headquarters and many of the AEC industry's largest healthcare contractors and architects. 01.10 KHS&S Wins Project of the Year Awards For Exteriors of Montage Hotel and Cal Poly Student Housing
KHS&S-Anaheim has won two Western Wall & Ceiling Contractors Association (WWCCA) /Walter F. Pruter 2009 Project of The Year awards for exterior construction. The Montage Hotel and Garden, Beverly Hills, CA won in the "Exterior Commercial" category and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo North Student Housing won in the "Exterior Institutional" category. 12.09 KHS&S Faux Cedar Exterior on Casino Snoqualmie Receives National Excellence Award
KHS&S' workmanship on the exteriors of Washington State's Casino Snoqualmie has received Walls & Ceiling Magazine's 2009 Excellence Award in the EIFS / stucco category. The project was selected from entries received across the United States and is highlighted in Walls & Ceilings December 2009 issue. For this project, KHS&S used Dryvit EIFS to create a durable alternative to real cedar. Craftsmen created a faux wood grain using EIFS, then cut the material to look like cedar siding. The finish coat is combed and stained to simulate real wood.

12.09 KHS&S Receives Top Honors in Central Florida Excellence in Construction Awards
For the second consecutive year, KHS&S received the coveted Subcontractor of the Year Award at the 2009 Annual Excellence in Construction Awards gala held by the Associated Builders and Contractors Central Florida Chapter. KHS&S also received two first-place Eagle Awards. The Subcontractor of the Year Award is given to a single subcontracting company which exhibits extraordinary attention to quality and detail. Eagle Awards were earned for KHS&S' interior work on NASA's Operations & Checkout Facility retrofit at Kennedy Space Center and for themed interiors and rockwork at the T-Rex Café in Orlando's Downtown Disney.

KHS&S' quality craftsmanship is showcased throughout Las Vegas' CityCenter as it begins a series of grand openings in December. This colossal $8.5 billion, 67-acre project in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip is the most expensive privately funded construction project in U.S. history. KHS&S performed work on five major CityCenter projects - the convention center, Cirque du Soleil's Viva ELVIS™ theater, ARIA Resort & Casino, Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas and The Harmon Hotel. KHS&S' scope of work ranged from traditional services, such as drywall and metal studs, to more specialized services, including themed construction and high-end finishes.

KHS&S - West Anaheim, California USA (November 25, 2009) - The Anaheim office of KHS&S Contractors West Coast, an employee owned company since 2006, celebrated National Employee Ownership Month in October by collecting 15,352 pounds of food for the Orange County Food Bank, setting a Food Bank record for the largest food drive ever conducted by employees of a single company.

07.09 KHS&S Earns Three Awards of Excellence at FWCCA Event
KHS&S has received three Awards of Excellence as part of the annual Florida Wall & Ceiling Contractors Association (FWCCA) Excellence in Construction awards program. The awards were announced today at the FWCCA Annual Convention and Tradeshow held in St. Augustine, FL. 07.09 KHS&S Breaks Ground on Expanded Seattle, WA Office
KHS&S has broken ground on an expanded KHS&S office in Fife, WA, just outside of Seattle. The new office is expected to be complete by the end of 2009. KHS&S has worked in the Seattle market since 2001 and has been in its current Fife location since 2004. The expanded facilities will feature additional room for KHS&S' preconstruction services as well as additional personnel and warehouse space. Dave Suder, president/CEO, KHS&S-West Coast, was one of eight business executives honored June 11 as part of the 23rd annual Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards for the Orange County, CA / Desert Cities region. Suder was selected from a group of finalists in the real estate and construction industry category. The awards are given to entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. 10.08 KHS&S Maintains # 2 Wall & Ceiling Spot in ENR Annual Ranking
For the third consecutive year, KHS&S Contractors has been ranked the second-largest specialty wall and ceiling contractor in the country by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine. The ranking is part of the 2008 Top 600 Specialty Contractors list published annually by McGraw-Hill and is based on 2007 nationwide revenue. KHS&S ranked 28th overall.
10.08 ABC Names KHS&S-Orlando Subcontractor of the Year
KHS&S-Orlando has been named Subcontractor of the Year by the Associated Builders and Contractors Central Florida Chapter. KHS&S earned the honor at the Excellence in Awards Banquet held Oct. 8. KHS&S was also awarded four Excellence in Construction awards, including 3 first-place Eagles.
07.08 KHS&S Helps Set Stage for Next Generation NASA Program
KHS&S-Orlando is crafting a place in the history of space exploration with its retrofit work at NASA s Kennedy Space Center on Florida s East Coast. Craftsmen are installing metal framing and drywall on the ceilings in the high and low bays in NASA s Operations & Checkout (O&C) Building. Originally built in the 1960s, the building will play a crucial role in NASA s next-generation human space exploration initiative, the Constellation Program. The final assembly, checkout and acceptance testing of the program's crew transportation system, Orion, will eventually be performed at the O&C facility. Work will continue through September 2008.
04.08 Las Vegas' Newest Casino Showcases KHS&S Craftsmanship
KHS&S craftsmanship takes center stage in The Palazzo, Las Vegas' newest casino resort. KHS&S completed intricate murals, gold leaf finishes, framing, theming and 13 interior and exterior water features for this $1.8-billion mega resort. The grand entry fountain serves as a project focal point, while elaborate finishes are evident throughout the 3,000-room project situated next to The Venetian.
