KHS&S was responsible for the design-build of the exterior
framing system for the one-of-a-kind facades of this landmark
building in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Designed
by renowned architects Herzog & de Meuron, the three-level,
293,000-square-foot building features facades of wavy copper
panels, perforated and textured to replicate the impression made
by light filtering through a tree canopy. Copper was selected
because of its oxidation properties, which allow the panels to
change, over time, from copper to cinnamon to a rich patina,
blending beautifully with the heavily wooded environment of Golden
Gate Park.
KHS&S also completed the interior framing, plywood, drywall
and level 5 taped finishes throughout.
